TMJ & Jaw Pain in Homer, Alaska

An individualized approach to jaw discomfort, tightness, and movement limitations.

Understanding your symptoms

TMJ refers to the temporomandibular joint, which connects the jaw to the skull. Temporomandibular disorders, or TMDs, can involve that joint and the muscles used for chewing. Jaw symptoms can overlap with dental and other concerns.

Your evaluation

We review jaw symptoms, dental history, injuries, and associated neck discomfort. Your examination considers movement and muscle tenderness. Dental assessment may be needed to identify tooth, bite, or joint concerns.

Care suited to your findings

When suitable, conservative care may include gentle muscle work, movement guidance, and care for associated neck concerns. We coordinate with your dentist or another clinician when indicated; we do not assume every jaw problem needs an adjustment.

A question patients ask

Does clicking always mean treatment is needed?

Painless clicking can occur without a condition requiring treatment. Pain, locking, or difficulty opening the mouth should be evaluated.
